1642 C Street

This modestly conceived 1884 Byard house survives remarkably intact and demonstrates the type of worker housing that was more prevalent in Eureka than the more noticeable “high style” residences. Rectangular in shape, the body of the house is one-and-a-half stories, with one-story wings to the rear. The siding is shiplap and the frieze, corner, and cornice boards are all plain. Visual texture is provided by the window head moldings and classicized porch columns. (Green Book)
