Built 1893 by A. Redmond, who also built 1302 E street and several of the houses on Hillsdale. A stylistic melange, this one-and-a-half-story cottage combines elements of the Queen Anne, Stick, and Eastlake styles. Constructed for George Langford, the house is especially notable for its cleverly designed frieze, which is constructed of wide boards overlaid with thin battens, resulting in a checkered pattern. Attenuated consoles, large self moldings in the slanted bay, and pierced panels on the porch contribute to the rich textural effect of this structure.
