Built ca. 1888 and owned by one G. Close. The roof of this Queen Anne-styled two story house is steep in its gable, the patterned shingles are notable, and commonly the Colonial Revival element almost always comes with a colonnaded front porch.
This well-kept two-and-a-half story Eastlake home also boasts an angled bay on the lower story, nice dentil work in the gable. Especially interesting features are the remaining hitching post for horses and carriage step on the sidewalk. If you look closely, you can read the word “Thomson” on the carriage post, which reflects the name of a historic owner of the home. It’s an interesting reminder of the per-automobile age and adds to the many carriage houses in town.
