230 Grant Street

Built ca. 1885. This house is a less flamboyant version of a Queen Anne; very nice solid clapboard contrasts a lacy entrance porch and stair rail. The front bay is decorated with comets and tiny brackets in a stringcourse. Dormers pop out at the sides. This is a very beautifully sited nineteenth century dwelling. This house was possible remodeled in the late 90s. The original boxy volume sports a different scale window. The projecting bay in front is treated stylistically different. Of course, other sheds have popped up in the rear.
