Built 1882-4. This is a very interesting bracketed Eastlake/Queen Anne house. The extension of the entry porch and its elaboration above to a balcony-like appearance are major sources of enhancement in this large, somewhat bizarre house. The front (rectangular) bay is attached at a chamfered corner of the main house, thus blurring the true size of both. The confusion is fueled by an angled bay around the “corner.” Eastlake rooflets above ground floor windows further complicate the scheme. The survival of both the incredible porch posts and elaborate balustrades is especially important in fine-tuning the image that this house sought to present. Only the original entry doors have been supplanted by others which are sympathetic enough to pass casual inspection. They may have been as elaborate as eaves bracketing still is.
