1816-1826 Second Street

Built ca. 1902. This group of sixteen similar buildings were constructed for J. T. Loveren. Today, these two-story, and one-and-a-half-story residences are important representatives of the type of development that occurred in Eureka before World War I. Using Greek Revival massing as a prototype, the houses are completely plain with the exception of a pedimented porch supported by turned posts and sawn brackets on some. To provide visual interests, the sizes of the buildings were altered. These buildings are exactly the same as 203-215 S Street, which is right around the corner.
