409 Myrtle Avenue

Built in 1885.
In a lumber town with easy access to milled decoration, it is not unusual to see a residence like the Boyd House. Essentially Stick style in character, it has been transformed into an Eastlake confection by the extensive use of patterned shingles, elaborate brackets with drop pendants, king beam spindle molding in the gable, and various other cut-outs and turned ornamentation – all intact and in good condition. The house was designed by the Newsom brothers of San Francisco and was featured in their book “Picturesque California Homes,” published in 1884. (The Green Book)
